Why does flooring need to acclimate before installation?
Wood and many engineered products expand and contract with humidity. Installing before the material adjusts to your home's conditions is the main reason floors cup or gap later — especially given how much Ontario humidity shifts between seasons.
Can you install flooring over an old subfloor?
In most cases yes, once it's levelled and checked. If there's damage or excess moisture, we'll flag repairs before installation.
Is LVP or laminate okay for a basement?
Both can work below grade, but only after a moisture test on the slab. We won't install over a slab that's testing high without addressing that first.
Do you install tile as well as wood flooring?
Yes — hardwood, engineered wood, tile and LVP are all part of what we install, each with its own subfloor prep requirements.
